Forget Almond Milk! 6 Out of The Box Milk Ideas
No, it's not that we don't love a good almond milk. We do! It's delicious, nutty and sweet to perfection. We love almond, rice, coconut milk... Yum! However, there is a whole world of ideas for plant-based milk, why limit yourself to the traditional ones?
In this post I share 6 out of the box milk ideas:
1- Pumpkin Seed Milk
Pumpkin seeds have an average of 18g of protein per 100g and are a great source of magnesium, zinc, potassium and tryptophan. Super healthy! To make pumpkin seed milk remove the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin using a spoon. It's not necessary to remove the pumpkin fibres that are mixed with the seeds as it will add a nice flavour to your milk. Blend 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds with 2 cups of water. Strain it using a cheesecloth. Add spices to taste. This milk is best used in recipes, smoothies, or with one of our lattes.

2- Melon Seed Milk
Delicious and full of calcium, magnesium and other nutrients. And it's free - as you would normally throw the seeds away. Simply blend 1 cup of melon seeds (soaked for a few hours) with 2 cups of water (adjust for desired consistency). Strain it using a cheesecloth and done! Add spices to taste. You don't even need to wash the seeds if getting them straight out of the fruit - this will make your melon seed milk taste sweeter.

3- Sesame Seed Milk
Super healthy! 9 times more calcium than cow milk, and magnesium - which helps with calcium absorption. Soak 1 cup of sesame seeds for 8 hours, throw the water away, and blend it with 400 ml of fresh water. Add spices to taste. Depending on the seeds you might get a slightly bitter aftertaste (as in tahini), but this will disappear as you add the milk to lattes, smoothies, recipes.

4- Quinoa Milk
Another different and super healthy option! Simply blend 1 cup of cooked quinoa with 3 cups of water. Strain it using a cheesecloth. Add spices to taste. Yum!

5- Peanut Milk
If you like peanuts this peanutty milk alternative is just what you need! Delicious and affordable this milk can be combined with a variety of spices or added to a variety of recipes!
Soak 1 cup of peanuts overnight. Drain it and mix it with 4 cups of water. Strain it using a cheesecloth. Add spices to taste. So easy and delicious!

6- Sunflower Seed Milk
Full of nutrients, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. Sunflower seeds are a great source of protein, fibre and other nutrients. They are also delicious, easy to find and affordable.
